Our Community
The Fall into sin wrecked the peace we had with God. True worship was disrupted (and we should remember that worship is the context of life). The Church, however, is the place where we are restored and then sent out to live.
Every person, every family, has its trials and pains. We sometimes think our own difficulties are unparalleled, but this kind of thinking would only indicate how little we get out and how shallow our knowledge of others really is. God calls us to live, and He calls us to live in the context of the community of His people. To the degree we forsake that assembly with our bodies or our hearts, our suffering will increase.
It’s in the covenant community where we are honed and polished. We learn to serve and to be longsuffering. We learn to forgive and love. We learn how to deny ourselves and how to be blessed by others. In Acts 2, every day believers met together in the Temple courts, broke bread in one another’s homes, and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Hebrews 3:13 suggests that many years later, Christians were still meeting daily.
God has placed His Church at the center and summit of the world. The Church is comprised of the people of God called out of the world into union with the crucified and risen Lord―as God’s people―His new humanity. The church is an outpost of heaven on earth: we are marked by baptism in the Triune name, we gather around His Table to feast, and we declare our common faith in Jesus Christ, who is now seated at the Father’s right hand in heaven as King of kings and Lord of lords. The Lord Jesus Christ rules over all things for the sake of the Church (Eph. 1:22-23), which in turn exists for the sake of the world.
Wednesday Nights 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The church is open from 5:30 to 6:30 to any who want to bring their own food and eat before the Bible study and prayer time.
NOTE: We do not meet on Wednesday nights during the summer.
More Ways to Join Us
Men’s Discipleship
Several times each year, the men of our church gather on a Friday evening and Saturday morning for "Iron Sharpens Iron," our men's discipleship class. Each gathering focuses on a particular topic relevant to Christian growth, leadership, and faithful living. We frequently invite pastors and teachers from outside our congregation to share their wisdom and experience, providing valuable instruction and fresh perspectives. These weekends are marked by rich fellowship, biblical teaching, lively discussion, and mutual encouragement as we seek to sharpen one another in our walk with Christ.
Women’s Ministry
Our Women’s Ministry Team works hard to provide various opportunities for women of all ages in our church to serve and connect. Examples of such events include: Bi-weekly MOTS (Mothers of Tiny Saints) meetings, baby and wedding showers, book studies, Mother’s Day Tea, Reformation Party, and a Christmas Party.
Monthly Psalm Sings
The Shipp family hosts a monthly Psalm sing at their home the first Sunday of every month at 5pm.
Join us while we sing praises to our God! Bring some kind of finger food to contribute and stick around for fellowship afterwards.
Student Bible Study
Sam and Sarah Alders host a Student Bible Study at their home once a month for students, ages 14+. Many high schoolers come from GCPC and other local churches for food, fellowship, singing, prayer, and time in God’s Word together.
Meetings are once a month on Saturday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm.
Domestic Missions
Glory Gang
GCPC is thankful to be able to participate, in cooperation with other evangelical churches in our area with the Glory Gang is an outreach dedicated to helping at risk children, ages 3 to 12. This ministry provides hope by meeting both tangible and spiritual needs. The vision of the Glory Gang is to see hurting children come to know a new life through the efforts of staff and volunteers whose own lives have been dramatically changed by Jesus Christ. Loving members of the Glory Gang visit hundreds of children and their families across all races and cultures each week though home visitations.
Heartbeat Pregnancy Center
GCPC supports Heartbeat Pregnancy Center, which provides comprehensive pregnancy-related services to women and unborn babies in Nacogdoches County and surrounding areas. They seek to educate the public on the risks of abortion and the emotional, physical and spiritual effects that result, the benefits of abstinence until marriage, and the unselfish option of adoption.
Love INC.
GCPC supports Love INC., a Christian organization dedicated to serving the local needy; a proven system that changes lives, with love that transforms. Love INC collaborates with local churches and other community-based organizations to reach out to and mentor those with needs. Lasting relationships are formed with positive results for all.
Foreign Missions
St. Petersburg, Russia
Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church oversees Missionary and Pastor, Oleg Volkov, who works from his church, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, Russia. From there, he is currently working with church planting efforts in Muslim Central Asia.
Peru Mission
Building the city of God in the urban centers of northern Peru.
JOINT EASTERN EUROPEAN PROJECT (J.E.E.P.)
J.E.E.P. exists to assist, plant, and encourage CREC congregations in Eastern Europe.
Camps
Summer Sanctus
Christian student camp, 7th through 12th grades (13-18). This year’s camp will be at Timberline Baptist Camp in Lindale, TX.
Gloria Sancta
Single adults, ages 18-28, the first week of January. This year’s camp will be at Timberline Baptist Camp in Lindale, TX.
